Study on Online Consumer Reviews in the Hotel Sector REF: 840

The specific objectives of this study are to provide an overview of the market of online hotel reviews in the EU and of measures taken to address fake reviews and the misleading use of reviews.

The measures include those taken by the hotel industry and review site operators (e.g. self-regulation, verification and authentication measures) and by consumer protection authorities or associations (e.g. guidelines, enforcement decisions). It also includes analyses of current practices on hotel booking and review websites in all EU Member States, gathering of feedback on the study findings at a workshop, and report on the results of the study and the workshop.d
