EU Children’s Participation Platform

The European Commission Directorate-General Justice and Consumers (DG JUST) has commissioned the ‘Establishment, management and coordination of the EU Children’s Participation Platform’. The EU Children’s Participation Platform will amplify children’s voices and enable understanding and access to decision-making processes across the European Union. Through the Platform, children can connect with each other, talk to policymakers and decision-makers, discuss topics and themes that affect their lives, and learn about their rights.

The Platform is an ongoing activity; it began in early 2023 and will run for four years.

A consortium comprising ICF S.A., SOS Children’s Villages, Save the Children, Risk & Policy Analysts (RPA) and Prof. Laura Lundy has been appointed to carry out this project. A supporting letter from the European Commission is available here.

The Platform involves various activities, such as stakeholder mapping and engagement, the development of consultative materials and consultative activities, including:

  • European-wide interviews, focus groups and surveys,
  • Bi-annual General Assembly, and
  • Monthly meetings of the Children’s Panel
