Teresa Lappe-Osthege
Teresa is a Senior Consultant in the Environment and Society team who joined RPA in July 2023. She holds a PhD in Politics from the University of Sheffield, an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London, and a BA in European Studies from Maastricht University. Teresa’s expertise spans the fields of EU internal and external policy processes, multi-level governance, sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, environmental crime and security, and environmental peacebuilding. Her skills set includes the development of adaptive research strategies and data collection approaches based on qualitative methodologies, policy analysis, stakeholder consultations and knowledge exchange, and research communication. She has organised and facilitated expert roundtables with EU representatives, and NGOs, as well as scientific workshops.
Prior to joining RPA, Teresa worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield where she conducted research on the regulatory challenges posed by the illegal wildlife trade in Europe (funded by the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council) and the links between biodiversity and security (funded by the European Research Council), and as a Programme and Research Manager at The New Institute in Hamburg focusing on behavioural change in sustainability transitions.
Teresa is proficient in English, a native German speaker, and has good knowledge of Spanish. She can often be found hiking in the Peak District.
