Rosa Richards

Rosa Richards is a Senor Consultant at RPA with a degree in Biological Sciences, specialising in ecology, with an ERASMUS year in France, and a masters in Environmental Management. Her specialist topics are water policy, monitoring and chemicals regulation. She is particularly interested in the regulation of chemicals to protect human health and the environment. She joined RPA in March 2022, but has supported the water industry, water managers, chemical managers and regulators at the UK and European level for more than 19 years. Since joining RPA she has worked on policy projects for Defra and the European Commission, with a focus on environmental management and improving the occupational health of workers.

Before joining RPA Rosa ran the UK Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG) for 10 years, organising stakeholder workshops for the water industry and writing technical articles about the latest developments in water monitoring technologies, as well as articles about chemicals regulation. Rosa previously worked at Atkins and the Water Research Centre where she mainly worked on water policy projects; she has been seconded to the head office of the Environment Agency to work on projects implementing the Water Framework Directive and an implementation plan for the Chemicals Monitoring Strategy. She has extensive experience of stakeholder engagement, literature and regulatory reviews.

Rosa is also a PRINCE2 Practitioner qualified project management professional with several years of project management experience.

When not working, Rosa can be found enjoying outdoor pursuits with her energetic Viszla and (less energetic) teenage kids, playing saxophone or chilling in her garden.
