RPA supports ECHA by assessing EU accession countries preparedness for EU chemicals news
In 2021 RPA and RPA Europe were contracted by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in a project to assess the regulatory preparedness of five EU accession countries, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Turkey to implement the EU’s chemicals laws. The project was part of ECHA’s Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance on behalf of the European Commission to support their capacity building and training.
In this project we generated national action plans and identified gaps and shortcomings in the capacity of the five candidates and pre-candidates to EU accession with regard to EU chemicals legislation. Specifically we assessed the REACH, CLP, BPR, PIC and POPs Regulations and identified that additional financial, human and IT resources are required.
The study produced five reports for the five countries. The reports, published in April 2022, are found at the ECHA website.
