More REACH Authorisation Success for RPA clients

On 14 June 2017, the European Commission published summary decisions on Applications for Authorisation submitted by Electroquimica De Harnani S.A., Kemira Chemicals Oy, Solvay Portugal – Produtos Quimicos S.A., Ercros S.A. and CAFFARO BRESCIA S.r.l.

All companies were members of the Sodium Dichromate Authorisation Consortium (SDAC) and all received long review periods of 12 years.

RPA and their authorisation associates, FoBiG, were responsible for the development of the SDAC application dossiers and collaborated with the companies throughout all stages of the process.

Panos Zarogiannis, RPA’s Technical Director and leader of Authorisation services, acknowledged the successful conclusion to the project for the five companies and highlighted that the key to success had been the “excellent organisation between the parties involved as well as the meticulous attention to detail taken during the assessment of human health impacts which fed into the socio-economic analysis.  The success in securing a long review period of 12 years showed that the ECHA committees were clearly satisfied with the submitted dossiers; in each case SEAC highlighted the robust nature of the conclusion that the benefits outweigh the risks of continued use.
