Chromates find widespread use across various industries for their useful properties such as corrosion resistance. However, the elemental chemical properties that makes chromates valuable as a substance, also presents hazardous properties, specifically for workers during the processing stage when chromates are in a solution. Due to these hazards, the European Chemicals Agency, ECHA plan to submit a restriction proposal covering all chromates listed on the REACH Regulation Annex XIV authorisation list.
