About the role:

We are seeking an experienced project manager to support the Environment & Society team in delivering and growing our portfolio of work. Our mission is to help clients create a better environment and society.  We are seeking a person who is:

As an experienced Environment Project Manager, you will probably have:

  • 5-10+ years of project management expertise, including management of multidisciplinary teams and contracts of varying sizes and leading relevant projects for UK public sector clients.
  • Experience in use of project management software, project planning software and in monitoring time, quality and cost of projects.
  • Experience in successfully managing multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience within natural resource management, socio-economic assessment or environmental consultancy.
  • Experience of successful public tendering within the sector.
  • Understand client requirements and apply a time, cost, quality model to ensure this is delivered.
  • Interpersonal skills, problem solving, team management, resource management, leadership, decision making.
  • Manage technical teams time, cost, quality, resource and risk.
  • Manage workstreams as part of larger, more complex, contracts such as stakeholder engagement or data management.
  • Working towards or qualification in the project management sector (noting that RPA train their staff in PRINCE2).
  • Experience in PM in the environmental, economics, marine or water sectors.
  • Finance and resource management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, analytical and time management skills.
  • Experience in contract management.

Additional skills that are desirable include:

  • Experience in managing impact assessments and/or evaluations according to UK and/or EU guidelines in areas such as flood and coastal erosion, marine environment, water quality and water resources.
  • Awareness and experience of/exposure to quantitative and qualitative analysis, workshop facilitation, economics, funding.
  • Leadership and people management experience, including recognised qualifications (such as PRINCE2).
  • Mentoring and coaching of junior staff to upskill the wider team in project management processes and approaches.
  • Support in the development and delivery of tenders.
  • Awareness of evaluation methods, techniques and application.

Salary and benefits

RPA operates a transparent pay policy and pay is based on relevant experience. The project manager level starts at £35,500.
