What are the implications of regulating nanomaterials under REACH?  This study for the European Chemicals Industry Council (CEFIC) involved a review of the recent RIP-Nano work and of the Commission proposals for defining nanomaterials.

The main focus of the work was on assessing the implications for industry associated with possible options for nano-specific requirements under REACH.

This assessment first focussed on the impacts of identifying nanomaterials separately  from the bulk form for two case study substances.  An extrapolation exercise was also undertaken to illustrate the potenial impact of adopting a nanomaterial definition that would result in a change in substance ID across the EU
