RPA to present at the London Flood and Land Remediation Expos
RPA’s Technical Director Teresa Fenn and Senior Consultant Elizabeth Daly will be presenting at the Flood and Land Remediation Expos in London on 12th and 13th October 2016.
The Expos provide a platform for professionals and businesses to discuss the latest research, products and solutions in flooding and land remediation. Several seminars, workshops and live demonstrations will be held over the two days, with opportunities to make new connections through networking.
Teresa will be talking about using potential benefits to drive and fund risk management.
Looking towards the future there is potential to use benefits to drive and fund flood and coastal risk management, creating more resilient and holistic approaches. This presentation will look at the use of innovative approaches such as green infrastructure, natural flood management measures, and coastal adaptation, and how the inclusion of more of the economic, social and environmental benefits can help identify who might fund such approaches. Elizabeth will be discussing the costs and benefits of meeting the requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD).
The WFD requires consideration of remediation measures where waterbody status is less than good (or good potential). With limited funding available, actions need to be targeted towards the waterbodies where benefits can be maximised compared with the costs. This seminar covers the use of an economic assessment methodology to enable prioritisation of mine water treatment schemes. It also looks at how such methods could be applied in other contexts.
