Consultant/Senior Consultant: Chemicals Team

We are looking to add further experience to our team to support our services in REACH authorisation, chemical regulatory advice and chemical policy development for the UK and EU.
Risk & Policy Analysts Limited (RPA) is an employee-owned, B Corp certified, independent consultancy with an established reputation and proven expertise in the fields of economics, chemicals, social policy and the environment. Our main office is in Norwich and we have hubs in London, Cambridge, North West and the South West.
We provide multi-disciplinary, innovative, expert advice and strategic analysis, assisting both public and private sector decision makers in the development and implementation of sustainable policies. We deliver this through a broad range of services and use a variety of skills to produce high quality, tailor-made outputs. The work we do places us directly at the centre of the UK and European legislative processes, providing us with an opportunity to help ensure public and private sector entities achieve their sustainability goals.
Over the past 33 years, we have innovatively and proudly pushed forward the boundaries of how impact assessments and evaluations, as well as broader policy analyses, are carried out across a range of different fields. Our work has often been used as examples of best practice. Our clients come to us for innovative approaches, creative thinking and critical analysis.
We are currently looking to reinforce our chemicals area for UK and EU REACH clients and are looking to recruit a consultant/senior consultant with experience of chemical regulations, chemical policy development, supporting public and private clients
Requirements:
- Detailed knowledge/experience of the REACH and/or CLP regulation
- Excellent desk-based analytical research skills
- Experience of consultation activities (e.g. questionnaires and interviews)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Effective team-working skills
Desirable skills/experience include:
- A degree in chemistry, toxicology, environmental sciences, material science or similar
- 2+ years’ (consultant), 4+ years (senior consultant) experience in a consultancy or similar private/public sector environment
- Practical experience of working with other chemical related regulation, directives or protocols
- Experience of supporting applications for authorisation or restrictions under the REACH Regulation
- Experience of performing regulatory management options analysis
- Experience of performing evaluations to support chemical policy development
- Experience of listening to clients’ needs and developing tenders that respond to these
- Project management experience
- One or more EU languages besides English
Salary and benefits
RPA operates a transparent pay policy and pay is based on relevant experience. The Consultant level starts at £28,500 and the Senior consultant level starts at £35,500.
