Panos Zarogiannis

He is experienced in undertaking extensive analyses of the impacts on industry, consumers and authorities from the implementation of regulation affecting the marketing and use of chemicals and their products and his work invariably involves extensive consultation with industry, authorities (at national and European levels) and other relevant stakeholders.  

Panos is currently leading the technical component of RPA’s work for REACH Authorisation of several Substances of Very High Concern. This includes the management of projects for the development of Applications for Authorisation on behalf of industry (individual companies and consortia/industry associations), and leading RPA’s work in supporting ECHA in the development of Annex XV dossiers for Substances of Very High Concern.

Panos has significant experience in managing studies that resulted in the development of Risk Reduction Strategies for several chemical substances under the Existing Substances Regulation. These have included, for instance, hexavalent chromium, bisphenol-A, naphthalene, and octabromodiphenyl ether.

He has participated in several more studies, including the Risk Reduction Strategies for zinc and nickel compounds. Recent work includes managing projects relating to the socio-economic impacts of (potential) restrictions on chemicals for sectors of the metal industry, for the European Commission (for cadmium and dichlorobenzene) and for the European Chemicals Agency. Notably, Panos was RPA’s Project Manager in the development of the Technical Guidance for Restrictions under RIP 4.4 and contributed to the SEA scoping study undertaken by RPA under RIP 3.9-1.
