Water Footprints and the Value of Water: New Concepts for Sustainable Water Utilities and Communities REF: 777

This study, led by MWH (US) for the US Water Research Foundation, aimed to synthesize and assess the growing body of information on the water footprint concept to understand how water footprinting offers a new approach, or supplements other water utility initiatives, in conveying the value of water.

As part of this study, the project team identified opportunities for drinking water utilities to integrate water footprinting into appropriate planning and communications to support sustainable water utility planning and to achieve and maintain sustainable communities, and proposed a water footprint roadmap for leadership, research and integration opportunities for utilities and the water sector.
