Threshold for SVHCs applies to components in articles

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has just published the ruling on the 0.1% threshold for notifying SVHCs in articles applies to each of the articles incorporated as a component of a complex product rather than to the article as a whole.  For the full article click here.  This confirms the opinion of the Advocate General, published on 12 February 2015.

This change will impact both on producers and importers of articles as these must notify ECHA if an SVHC is present, and to suppliers of articles who will be required to inform the recipient of the article, and to provide similar information in response to consumer enquiries within 45 days.

Impacts of these changes will be far reaching and will be felt across a broad range of industries.  RPA has experience in REACH compliance (click here for more information) and the chemicals sector (click here for more information).
